I used to work in the outsourcing business here in the states. The advantage to the non-western countries is that they get a large pool of jobs, training and experience that helps the lower income people move up in their world (albeit at a slower pace than they deserve as we are accustomed to). It also creates a need for the infrastructure to support these businesses such as the roads, housing, data connections, electricity, etc.. These are typically hight turnover jobs where people use them to better themselves and move on to better things, just as we do in the states. If you were to look at outsourcing over a period of time, you will see a constant shift in locations as the people are able to command higher wages and another country comes on the radar as being cheaper.
As a side note: Although I lost several jobs due to outsourcing moving to India, I must admit that everyone from the end customer to the company purchasing the outsourcing to the investors and everyone in the outsourcing location benefit. If you can take the high turnover, low productivity jobs from your company, you save and the customer saves, as does everyone elese. The only problem I see is telephone customer service where there is a language barrier, and oftentimes the foreigner has never seen the product they are supporting, thus service suffers. However, for quality assurance, order entry, technical support and a variety of other areas it dramatically helps reduce inflation in the developed country, and helps the developing country develop. There are a ton of jobs that people have that go completely unnoticed by the end user, but the end user would be upset if they went away because quality would suffer.
To give a couple examples: When you order a product online, it creates a document to be used to fulfill it. There are typically people that have to manually look at it to make sure that the items, pricing, discounts, addresses, tax rates, export restrictions and such are accurate before it can be processed. This takes about 30 seconds to 2 minutes, but can require months of paid training on just the products. Americans last only a few weeks doing this work and it has to be done, The job I speak of paid $14/an hour with good benefits and a full month of paid time off in a location where that was good money, and people still didn’t want to do it all day. That postion went to India paying $8 a day plus room and board and transportation for the family of the employee, and the employees there think the position is the best thing to ever happen to them.
I hope I answered your question, but I felt the need to show that it actually is advantageous to everyone involved.
